World No Tobacco Day is also known as ‘Anti-Tobacco Day ’ and is celebrated on May 31st every time. The day is devoted to raising mindfulness about the troubles of tobacco use and championing for effective measures to reduce tobacco consumption worldwide.

The Member States of the World Health Organization created World No Tobacco Day in 1987 to draw global attention to the tobacco epidemic and the preventable death and complaint it causes. In 1987, the World Health Assembly passed Resolution WHA40.38, calling for 7 April 1988 to be a “ a world no- smoking day. ” In 1988, Resolution WHA42.19 was passed, calling for the festivity of World No Tobacco Day, every time on 31 May.

Each time, World No Tobacco Day has a different theme. once themes have included “ Tobacco and lung health, ” “ Tobacco and heart complaint, ” and “ Tobacco a trouble to development. ” The theme for this time’s World No Tobacco Day is “ Tobacco People need food not tobacco. ”

On this day, people around the world share in conditioning to raise mindfulness about the troubles of tobacco use and to encourage others to quit smoking. These conditioning can include educational events, public demonstrations, and social media juggernauts.
